Most deck builders come from framing or general contracting. I did too. But I also spent years in the Specials Department of a high-end kitchen cabinet manufacturer, building custom hardwood components that required tight tolerances and exact joinery.
That environment demanded precision measured in fractions of a millimeter.
After years framing houses, I understood structure at scale. What I didn’t accept was the typical standard applied to decks. Rough carpentry alone wasn’t enough.
Lakeside Decks was built to combine both disciplines: structural framing done correctly, finished with the level of detail normally reserved for interior millwork.

Precision Joinery & Advanced Techniques
My background in high-end cabinetry shaped how I approach exterior work. Standard framing alone is not enough for a refined finish. The same discipline used in fine woodworking is applied to modern PVC and composite materials.
The Lakeside Standard:
Mechanically Locked Miters: Mitered corners are reinforced from below using structural adhesives and pocket-screw fastening. This creates a mechanically secured joint that resists seasonal movement and maintains tight, clean lines over time.
PVC Heat Bending: PVC allows for controlled heat bending, enabling seamless curved borders and custom integrated details that cannot be achieved with traditional lumber or standard composite boards.
Architectural Night Lighting: Premium In-Lite low-voltage systems are integrated directly into stairs and rail structures. These are permanent, architectural-grade fixtures designed for durability, safety, and consistent performance after dark.

Roots by the Water
The name “Lakeside Decks” reflects where this started. Growing up on the water, my first deck build took place along the shores of Lake Erie.
By then, I had already spent years framing houses and working in high-end cabinetry. That lakeside project was the point where those two disciplines came together—structural strength paired with precise finish work.
Today, I bring that same standard to homeowners across Rochester. Every project is approached with transparency, disciplined construction, and attention to detail that holds up long after the job is complete.
